The University Computing Centre Ltd, a limited liability company; wholly owned by the University of Dar Es Salaam was originally established to conduct lectures in all computer related courses, to conduct researches in informatics and to provide computing services and consultancy in ICT to both the university and the rest of the country. Since the 1st July 1999, all academic matters have been transferred to the newly formed computer science department. This has now left the Computing centre to concentrate on the management and business side of Information and communication Technology services for the university and the rest of community in Tanzania and elsewhere in the world. And in order to emphasize the business aspect of UCC, the council of the University passed a resolution in May 2000 transforming the centre into a limited liability status.
