WearCheck is the leading oil condition monitoring company in Africa, serving the earthmoving, industrial, transport, shipping, aircraft and electrical industries through the scientific analysis of used oil from mechanical and electrical systems. Additional services include the analysis of fuels, transformer oils, coolants, greases and filters.
WearCheck’s expansive network of 10 laboratories spans southern Africa, including Isando in Gauteng, Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal, Middelburg in Mpumalanga province, and international laboratories in India, Dubai, Mozambique, Ghana and Zambia - at Lumwana mine and Kitwe - with additional offices or representation in Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg, Steelpoort, Port Elizabeth, Zimbabwe and Namibia. WearCheck is the only oil analysis company in Africa with ISO 9001 quality certification and ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management programme, and ISO 17025 accreditation for its laboratory centric quality management programme.
WearCheck is also certified by Honeywell. WearCheck has been awarded preferred supplier status by several Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs); including Bell, Volvo Construction Equipment and, along with WearCheck’s global partners, is the laboratory of choice for a number of lubricant suppliers. WearCheck also has a partnership with ABB Limited, Zurich - a global leader in power and automation technologies. These partnerships are in line with worldwide trends in outsourcing specialist services.
Continued investment in new technology has ensured that all equipment in WearCheck‘s laboratories is state-of-the-art, which rivals and often surpasses its local and international counterparts. All laboratories are largely automated and integrated with the latest information technology. Research and development plays a major part in WearCheck’s commitment to improving systems and technology on an ongoing basis. Although WearCheck does not provide an onsite oil purification service, it does own and operate an oil regeneration plant in Isando, Gauteng which supplies SABS 555-compliant regenerated oil, suitable for use in transformers.
WearCheck has responded positively to a market need for regenerated oil, noting that the constant purchase of new oil becomes prohibitively expensive in some industries. In addition WearCheck has established a Reliability Solutions division, specialising in vibration monitoring, thermography and other aligned services. WearCheck’s operational areas are managed ethically and independently to ensure products and services conducted comply with the division’s strict international standards
