Engling, Stritter & Partners was established, after Walter Engling & Co had merged with Bell & Fraser to become Bell, Fraser & Engling in 1958. It then became known as Fraser, Engling & Hanekom, incorporating Dr Hirsekorn & Miller in 1960. Mr Udo Manfred Stritter became a partner in 1969, whereafter the firm was known as Engling Stritter & Co, who took in Peter Gerd van der Merwe as a partner shortly thereafter to become known as Engling Stritter & Van der Merwe.
Since June 1972, the firm is practicing under the name and style of Engling Stritter & Partners. Mission Statement "Be Different – to provide legal advice and services at reasonable fees." Engling, Stritter Is primarily a commercial and corporate legal practice, representing a substantial number of sizeable Namibian Companies, both listed and unlisted. Generally advises clients on all kinds of labour matters, including drafting of disciplinary codes, recognition agreements, advising both employees and employers with regard to labour related issues, attending on Labour Court matters, chairing, prosecuting and defending at disciplinary hearings.
Advises, files and prosecutes all types of intellectual property and has successfully conducted trademark litigation in the Namibian High Court. Has substantial experience in Mining Law, not only regarding the drafting of agreements pertaining to mining matters, but also pertaining to litigation.
The experience of partners as directors of both listed and unlisted companies and the membership, including chairmanship, of various prospective audit-corporate governance-risk committees, substantial extensive corporate consulting services, is more fully described under Areas of Practice.
Scope Of Legal Services
The practice specializes in all matters commercial including labour, conveyancing and debt collection, consultancy services, contractual drafting and provides advisory and regulatory services to corporate entities.
The firm has an active litigation department in respect of general civil and commercial litigation and provides intellectual property services, estate administration with substantial experience in Mining Law, not only regarding the drafting of agreements pertaining to mining matters, but also pertaining to litigation.
