GIBB International Ltd (formerly Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners, Africa) and associated companies have been involved in development projects in East and Central Africa since the early 1940s. Since then, the company has successfully completed over 1,000 consultancy assignments, covering a broad spectrum of sectors and specialisations.
GIBB International Ltd has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and has offices in:
Tanzania;
Ethiopia;
Southern Sudan;
Rwanda.
In 1990, GIBB International Ltd was registered as a limited liability company in Kenya. The company has a majority local shareholding and it is managed and staffed by locals and other nationals qualified in a wide range of disciplines. The company forms associations with other indigenous and foreign firms as necessary to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
GIBB International Ltd is registered with a number of international funding agencies and organisations. These include the World Bank, African Development Bank, European Union, United Nations, BADEA, CIDA, DFID, DANIDA, IDA, KfW and SIDA.
GIBB has been responsible for the design and supervision of construction works to the value of over US$ 900 million in East Africa, Southern Africa and Middle Eastern countries. In addition, advisory services have been given for works to a further value of some US$ 1,500 million.
The Quality Management System of Gibb International Ltd was approved and certified to the International Standard ISO 9001:1994 in 1997 by Llyods. Gibb International Ltd was the first engineering consultancy in Kenya and, according to the Llyods Register of Quality Assurance, the first in African to achieve approval and certification.
The company was subsequently audited in 2005 by SGS and certified that the GIBB Quality Management System complied with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 Standard. The company's Quality Managament System was later audited and re-certified to the ISO 9001:2008 Standard in May 2010 and this certification was re-confirmed in February 2014.
