The original Blue Nile Bank was formed in 1983 by Korean Giant Daewoo Corporation as a Joint venture with Sudanese Business men. Daewoo owned 82 percent of the Bank . Daewoo later offload its to a progressive and Dynamic Sudanese Business Group. 

The present Blue Nile Mashreg Bank Limited privately owned Bank formed after the merger of Blue Nile Bank and Mashreq Bank Khartoum operations It started operations as an a merged entity bank in 1st October 2003 of the same year.
