MEA FERTILIZERS

Agriculture

Nairobi, Kenya

Since 1977, MEA has been in the forefront of providing high-quality plant nutrition products to commercial and smallholder farmers all over Kenya. We are East Africa's Premier supplier of inputs for crop production empowering millions of farmers in Africa. We forge progressive partnerships in a journey spanning close to four decades. We grow, because we help you grow.

Straight Fertilizers
Straight fertilizers impact soil fertility by providing a single major nutrient in the soil as part of the overall soil improvement strategy. These major nutrients (also known as macro-nutrients) consist of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and potassium. The chemical composition of the fertilizer is denoted as a percentage of the total nitrogen available per unit volume.

MEA stocks a wide range of straight fertlizers sold directly in conveniently-packaged quantities, or as part of bulk and custom-made blends
Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (C.A.N, 26% N)
This is a popular straight nitrogen fertilizer and an excellent source of nitrogen, which is readily available to plants due to its excellent solubility. Works well for all types of crops for pre-planting or as atop dressing application. Especially recomended for early application in cereals. Suitable for straight application and blending.

Sulphate of Ammonia (S/A, 21% N)
Sulphate of ammonia is commonly used as a source of nitrogen and sulphur. It has good storage and handling qualities, and can be readily blended with other fertilizers. Provides excellent value where sulphur is considered neccessary
Triple Superphosphate (TSP, 46% P2O5)
TSP is used in blending for the formulation of high analysis grade fertilizers. Can also applied directly to the soil as a single nutrient material. It’s excellent solubity ensures good plant uptake providing a good source of phosphorus to plant.
Muriate of Potash (60% K2O)
MOP has a high nutrient concentration and is therefore relatively price competitive with other forms of potassium. The chloride content of MOP can also be beneficial where soil chloride is low. Recent research has shown that chloride improves yield by increasing disease resistance in crops.

Sulphate of Potash (50% K2O)
Sulphate of potash is a fast-acting plant food and a rich source of potassium for encouraging flowering and fruiting in all plants, as well as promoting disease resistance. Highly recommended for vegetables, bulbs and crop-bearing trees.

Urea (46% N)
Urea contains an abundance of Nitrogen, which favours plant and stem growth in all plants. It can be applied to soil as a solid or solution or to certain crops as a foliar spray.

Over the years, we have expanded our service capacity from importation and distribution to blending / bagging of custom fertilizer formulation, farmer education and extension support services, as well as testing and research services. We are here to guide plant-growers to apply modern scientific methods toward making the most of their land, water and financial resources to grow high-quality products in responsible and sustainable ways Our passion and dedication to the cause of empowering the farming community through end-to-end soil fertility management solutions has been immensely rewarding.

Our state of the art fertilizer production facility in Nakuru, Kenya, is the only one if its kind in East Africa. In addition, we have set up a fully-accredited testing centre, where we carry out soil, water and tissue analysis for farmers at affordable rates. Accordingly, we now have the capacity to produce fertilizer formulations that suit a whole range of crops grown under different soil types and agro-ecological zones at a rate of 1,200 metric tonnes per day. No problem can be solved from the same level of thinking that created it." - Albert Einstein Africa's population is projected to grow from 973 million in 2008 to 1,800 million by 2050 In these rapidly advancing economies, the average size of arable land is limited and continously shrinking to due to a rise in urban settlement and industrial installations. The challenge here is that of meeting rising food demands taking into account a host of steep production constraints.

In response, we at MEA believe that effecient production and distribution of quality plant nutrition products aided with scientific problem-solving and effective extension systems are key to meeting this challenge. Accordingly, we envision ourselves as the leading provider of soil fertility management solutions in Africa, helping crop farmers feed a growing population through groundbreaking research and innovation, extensive logistic reach and close, long-term, collaborative relationships with crop producers of every scale.
