Opticsens (Pty) Ltd is a South African based optical sensor and component design, manufacturing and installation company. Because of its capabilities it can manufacture cost effective sensors to compete in the world security and military markets.Opticsens design and manufactures optical fiber perimeter intrusion detection systems for pipeline, correctional facility, mobile towers, power stations and military security sites.

Opticsens focus on distributed optical fiber intrusion perimeter security. This includes pipelines, correctional facilities, cellular base stations, wireless base stations, power stations, airport, gas and oil facilities, mining ground and military site perimeter security.

Opticsens unique design is cost effective and can be installed on all wire fences, palisades and wall fences. It can also be buried under ground for vibration detection of walking or digging attempts. The Opticsens control software can send an alarm to any place in the world by mobile quad-band modem or internet connection. Each sensor node can control up to eight independent optical or electrical sensors which can serve as redundancy systems on high security sites.

The perimeter security detection system consists out of a control room or field PC with intelligent software for alarm detection. When an alarm is generated it can be displayed on the control room PC and send by a pager system for a distance up to 1.6km to any security personnel. It can also send an alarm with the zone number by SMS modem (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) to predefined mobile numbers. An alarm is also triggered for each zone if the sensor wire is cut or electronic failure is detected. The software can also send the alarm to a relay board for external alarm applications. 

Opticsens products include perimeter security, CCTV Security Cameras, optical components, micro accelerometers and fiber optic gyroscopes (FOG), and navigation systems.
