REGAL Pharmaceuticals Limited, a Kenya-based company, is one of the leading manufacturers of quality, essential pharmaceutical products in Eastern and Central Africa.
The firm was founded in 1981 by Dr. Mahendra K.V.Shah, a qualified pharmacist.
Operations began with the manufacture of oral syrups/suspension from rented premises with a staff of eight, followed two years later with the installation of tablet and capsule production lines. In 1986, the company moved into a custom-built factory which led to a significant increase in production capacity.
In January 2002, the company transferred all manufacturing activities to a new factory at the Ruaraka plant. This state-of –the-art facility is designed to produce a wide range of formulations in an efficient and hygienic environment.
A new factory meeting latest cGMP specifications was commissioned in January 2002 (Unit II - Non-beta-lactam)and a dedicated Penicillin (Unit I)was refurbished in 2006.
