J. Stanley-Owusu & Company Limited was incoporated in 1970 as a privately owned Ghanaian Civil Engineeering Company. The company had originally operated as J. Stanley-Owusu Contract Works in 1961 and was involved in the supply of sand, stones and gravels with its fleet of tipper trucks and wheel loaders. 

From its humble-beginnings the company has grown and branched into other sectors of the Ghanaian economy. The areas of activities of the J. SO Group of Companies now include: Solid and Liquid Waste Management, Quarrying and Contract Crushing, Hydrological Engineering and Hospitality.
