J. Stanley-Owusu & Company Limited was incoporated in 1970 as a privately owned Ghanaian Civil Engineeering Company. The company had originally operated as J. Stanley-Owusu Contract Works in 1961 and was involved in the supply of sand, stones and gravels with its fleet of tipper trucks and wheel loaders.
In 1965, J. Stanley-Owusu Contract Works procured its first mobile crushing machine with a capacity of 20 tonnes per hour. With the purchase of the crushing plant, the core business of the company changed from sand and stones supply to stone quarrying and crushing for the production of aggregates for the then fast-growing road and b uilding industry. The company thus became the leading haulage company supporting the foreign building and road contractors at the time fcor the likes of SCC, etc.
