Jagoda Gems is a privately-owned company, established in 1991 through the foreign investment program. Its goal is to render skills in the fields of cutting and polishing of gemstones, jewellery manufacturing and the grading and preparation of rough (mined) material for the international market. The owners first came to Zambia in 1984 and for 6 years worked with other companies developing their mines in the east and south of the country.

While production methods in those days were labour intensive, Zambia became recognised as a new source of fine rough gemstones, most notably for aquamarine, emerald and amethyst. The marketing of these stones was however, very difficult given the lack of exposure to those other than the few buyers in the trade who ventured to these parts of Africa. Intent on resolving this hurdle, Jagoda has established a wide international market base, not only for its own production but also to assist other mining companies in Zambia find the much needed turn-over to develop their mines and further their marketing skills.

Specialising in the mining and export of quality rough gemstones, Jagoda is one of the largest producers of Tourmaline in Africa. Producing predominantly pink and bi-coloured / watermelon for the international market we also have some fine terminated specimen crystals weighing anything up to 60kg. Jagoda is one of the longest established gemstone mining companies in Zambia and we constantly assist smaller companies to find overseas markets for their 'semi-precious' production.

Through Jagoda you are sourcing directly from the mines. In-house manufacturing of gold and silver jewellery and cut gemstones for the person who wants a lasting souvenir of Zambia with full guarantee of authenticity. In the mid to late 1990's the Jagoda Mine was an important producer of pink to red tourmaline and some morganite. The near vertical pegmatite dike trends north -north west and has been explored to a depth of about 15m in an elongate open pit. The pegmatitie is geochemically quite highly evolved, being composed mainly of 'cleavandite' (albite), quartz, and albetized K feldspar with local areas of lepidolite and tourmaline.
