Aluworks Limited is an aluminium continuous casting and cold rolling mill located at the port City of Tema, Ghana. The company was incorporated as a private limited liability company on the 22nd day of March 1978. Its shareholders at incorporation comprised individuals, institutions, and tertiary aluminium processing companies and banks. The factory was built between 1982 and 1985, and was officially commissioned for production on 21st September 1985 with an installed capacity of 10,000 metric tons of various aluminium products. Capacity was expanded to 20,000 metric tons per annum in 1992. A further expansion completed in 2002 raised capacity to 30,000 metrict tons per annum. The company operates with a workforce of about 450.Company listed on Ghana Stock ExchangeAluworks was converted to a public limited liability company at its 9th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders held on 28th May 1996. After an Initial Public Offer (IPO) in October 1996 at the price of ¢1,350 per share, the company was listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange on November 29, 1996 .The four largest shareholders of the Company as at the end of December 2003 were: Social Security & National Insurance Trust (Ghana) - 24.9%, Ghana Cocoa Board - 11.27%, Strategic Initiatives Limited - 9.96%, SSB Investment Company Limited 8.52%.Aluworks shares on the 31st December 2003 traded at ¢4,000. The number of issued shares was 41,677,911 and the market capitalization ¢167 billion.
