Honey badger was established in 1999 by Mama Lucy Renju, and as of 2010 is being run by her son Joseph and his wife Jenny and their two children Izzy and Eli (seen below in our swimming pool!) Joseph has a background in international development and passionately believes in encouraging sustainable development by supporting communities to help themselves. In light of this in 2006 he set up his own non-profit organisation called SAIDIA Tanzania.

Jenny has a background in public health and for the last 8 years has worked on large scale adolescent sexual and reproductive health projects. Like Joseph (her husband) she is driven by encouraging sustainable developments for those that need.

Joseph and Jenny took over Honey Badger in February of 2010, both have previous hospitality experience and will continue to offer a genuine taste of African hospitality. Above and beyond this they are determined to merge the focus of the lodge with their passion in community development ensuring that Honey Badger Lodge and Safaris is a positive force within their community.
